Established 17 years ago by the award-winning filmmakers Tata Amaral and Caru Alves de Souza based in São Paulo/Brazil, Tangerina stands out for telling impacting stories through the eyes of the filmmakers. Their narratives have a strong social and political impact.
On its collection, there are award-winning works such as “Antônia” (2006), which had its worldwide premiere at the Toronto Internatinal Film Festival and was screened at festivals in Berlin, Rotterdam, Miami, among others. “Antônia” spawned the homonymous series that was EMMY 2017 nominated. “Express Kidnapping” (2018) major audience success on TV Globo. Co-produced “My Name is Baghdad” (2020) Silver Bear for Best Feature Film at the Generation 14plus of the 70th Berlin International Film Festival and dozens of other awards is a production of Manjericão Filmes. “Hoje/Today” (2013), grand prize winner at the Brasilia Film Festival in 2011;
“De Menor/Underage” (2014), Caru Alves de Souza’s first feature film and winner of Best Film at the Rio Film Festival and selected at several international festivals including Biarritz, San Sebastian and Chicago Latin Film Festival; the short film “Assunto de Família/Family Affair” shown in more than 20 festivals worldwide and distributed in several countries, “Trago Comigo/Bring it Inside” (2016), feature film created from the homonymous series produced in partnership with TV Cultura, awarded at Latin American festivals. In co-production with Mangericão Filmes.
His collection is composed of 7 feature films, 4 independent television series, several short films and documentaries.
